The year 2014 will always remain in the bad memories of Pakistani nation due to the disastrous attack of Peshawar, the worst terrorism act against children in modern history of the world. Pakistan suffers from the chronic politics, in competent judiciary & lawmakers. Even after 13 years, Pakistan government is failed to formulate any strong policy (Internal and external) to combat terrorism, neither our government is able to passes a single anti terrorism law even after the casualties of 70,000 innocent Pakistanis.
While analyzing Indo Pak relations we will come to know that there is no change in states policies towards each other, except betterment in ‘business ties’. It seems personal interests are prior than national interests for both governments, as despite LoC violations both leaders are interested to do business. Also no step is taken to solve the core issue “ Kashmir”. The “Mango” policy of Nawaz Sharif didn’t worked except bringing more irritable response from India or meetings with Bollywood idols.
As a Pakistani I have to take a Polio certificate to travel abroad just because of terrorists attacking polio teams in Pakistan. W.H.O thundered down with suggestions of travel restrictions for Pakistanis but did any action taken by our government about Polio effectively? Did we challenged WHO for this discrimination act? No! as we don’t have any written policies.
2014 where Malaysian air planes goes missing, In Pakistan airports are the targets of terrorists. TTP attacked Karachi, Peshawar & Quetta airports. Terrorists attacked airport then died or left but now security checkups are worst in Pakistani airports. Islamabad Airport is ranked 2nd worst air port in the world and I can assure you it is the airport for only VIPs now rest of the public can see it from outside and it looks like a bus stand to me at least.
Operation Zarb-e-Azb in which 2100 terrorists are killed so far, with 96000+ IDPs in Fata & KPK making for a challenge for the government. Neither Federal nor provincial governments had taken the IDPs rehabilitation and facilitation process seriously.
Terrorists on Army Public School in Peshawar on 16th December 2014 endorsed the blood bath reminder of 16 Dec 1971 Fall of Dhaka and I have no doubt that 24 Indian consulates along Afghanistan border who works day and night against Pakistan choose this date specifically for Peshawar massacre. But after that we hanged only 6 terrorists of Musharraf case and debate on Military Courts are being discussed to pursue terrorists as current civil judiciary is incompetent and corrupt. But yet few terrorists killed 150+ people including children in ONE day and we are unable to hang more terrorists after 15 days. Why we have safe laws for terrorists and worst laws for people in Pakistan? a big question in mind of every Pakistani. That school attack resulted more securities to all schools in Pakistan now you will see schools will look like barracks as security cameras, steel wire, 8 feet walls with 2 armed security guards are necessary for all private & public schools in Pakistan. Now the parents will have more trouble to pick and drop their children to schools but yet we have debate to hang terrorists rather than just execute all pending execution cases.
NATO, ISAF & USA exit from Afghanistan after 13 years without eliminating Taliban even removing Mullah Umar from Most Wanted List. What they have gained from this 13 years of war? except loss of lives but yes war machine industry owners did made billions and if I remind you when US left Pakistan alone in 1988 after the extermination of Gen Zia with all his top generals including US ambassador we got Taliban's in Afghanistan, which brought Al-Qaeda, 9/11 and TTP to Pakistan. Now if they are going to repeat the history which seed they are going to leave in Afghanistan for our Future Generation?
I can only hope for a better Pakistan in 2015 if all political parties put aside their personal and political agendas & differences, make a consolidate foreign & national policy, make and execute strong Anti Terrorism Act with fast 7 days prosecution period. Create job opportunities for youth in Pakistan instead of providing frustration to them at every aspect of their lives.
